WE CAN HELP YOU TO HELP OTHERS
WHY SHOULD I BECOME A VOLUNTEER?
- Volunteering gets people involved in their local community.
It broadens the mind and helps prevent isolation. It provides help for both the recipient and the giver.
- It provides a great opportunity to become involved in something different and may help with your personal development programme.
- Your time, skills and experience of life can be invaluable to the Volunteer Bureau but most importantly, to someone less fortunate within our society.
- Being unemployed is not an obstacle to voluntary work. You may still claim benefits whilst you are a volunteer however, you must be able to provide evidence that you are actively seeking work.
- Disability is not an obstacle either. Disabled people may be involved in voluntary work however, excessive voluntary hours may lead to re-assessment of Incapacity Benefits.
- Volunteers are able to choose the tasks that they wish to be involved with and the number of hours they wish to work.
- Training is provided.
